It seems every week somebody is proposing a new gadget or app to track how much water you drink (and prod you to drink more). Maxing out your water intake is a simple and actionable thing to do, but we know that focusing on small easy changes can backfire if they’re a distraction from the meaningful improvements you want to make in your life.

You hear the "rules" thrown around all the time: Drink eight glasses of water a day. Drink half your body weight in water a day.


If you're already thirsty, it's too late, you're dehydrated.


Being well-hydrated improves your ability to fight illnesses because water is part of lymph fluid, a part of your immune system.


You're also less likely to feel day-to-day malaise if you're hydrated since being dehydrated can cause symptoms such as headaches, back pain, muscle weakness, fatigue and dizziness.
